Average Up for Narcoota

The Grosser family were encouraged with the show of support from wool growers at their recent ram sale.

The Narcoota Poll Merino Studs 26th annual on-property ram sale was held recently on Thursday, 10th September.

The best clearance was achieved with 35 of the 36 rams on offer sold, with the average being $681.00, which was up from previous years. Matt Ward, Elders Eudunda conducted the auction with assistance from James Fremantle, Elders Roseworthy. The Narcoota rams are popular for their big frames with white long staples of wool.

Local buyers, Grantley and Sheryl Doecke purchased four rams, one of which was the highest priced rams at the sale. Other locals to support the sale with purchases included Malcolm Schutz, Rodney Wilksch and Ian Launer.

Regular buyers from further afield included Phil Sobey of Roonka Pastoral, Blanchetown who purchased four rams, John Angus of Angaston purchased eight and other clients with purchases from Kapunda, Brinkworth, Black Hill and Karoonda.

Tim Grosser said that the family enjoy the support from buyers, agents and on-lookers and thank them for their support by taking an interest and attending.

Tim is excited about the future breeding program of Narcoota Stud aiming to breed a breech that is less reliant on the practice of mulesing.
